 Introduction to R/C Sailing..

The radio controlled (R/C) sailboat is a popular form of boating which offers excitement, relaxation or scale realism, whichever you choose, and inexpensive operating costs. Radio controlled sailboats are completely wind powered and operate by the same principles as full-scale sailboats. One channel of the radio controls the sails (main and jib) via a sail servo. The sails can be taken in or let out according to your point of sail. A second channel controls the rudder. Sailboats are usually classed by sail area or by hull length.

"Overall race results are mainly determined
by the level of concentration of the boat's skipper."
(jca, June 2004.)

 Governor General of Canada

 The Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson,
Governor General of Canada

at the controls of a Victoria racing sailboat
in Waterfront Park, Kelowna, B.C.
October, 2003

Personal instruction was provided by
OMSA sailor Miss Gillian Thomson
ex World Champion, Hobie 18 Class
Canadian Radio Yachting Association
2005 Sailor of the Year

 Victoria radio/controlled racing yacht,
31" hull, 43" mast, 4 1/2 lbs weight.
2 channel radio.
The building and rigging of a Victoria Class sailboat
can be as simple or as challenging as you desire.

(cost of parts and components: including the radio controls...
anywhere between $300 - $600 cdn)

You really do not want to build the Victoria sailboat using the instructions that come with the kit, because there are a few modifications ...
(OK.. maybe a whole lot of modifications)

that you will want to make that will dramatically
improve both the reliability and boat speed of your Victoria.
